Obituary of Walter W. Estey

Monson- Walter W. Estey, 79,  passed away August 10, 2023. He was born on May 22, 1944 to the late George and Olla Estey, in Rochester, New York. As a young man, he worked for Tony Ribaudo in a clothing factory. While he was there, the Cuban Missal conflict arose. He asked his uncle Charlie Ribaudo why some of the Christadelphians were not worried. He was told they didn't worry because it could be that Christ might be returning. At that point, he decided to be baptized with the Christadelphians on December 23, 1962.
When he was 18, he had to go stand before the government board. They looked at him as a good, strong man and thought he would be a good soldier. He then told them that he was a Christadelphian and a conscientious objector. He was then put to work at Greystone Park, a mental hospital, to work out his time. After that he then worked for Hicks Brothers where he learned to refinish furniture, and from there worked for DiLiberto Construction. He later worked for Ed Lindeblad refinishing pianos and finally went to work as a laborer for Instracasso Construction. While there, he fell off of a scaffold and had to go through intense rehabilitation. He enjoyed hunting and fishing until his balance stopped him. He has lived for many years after that and his greatest, most recent love was planting flowers in the yard.
He was predeceased by his father, George Howard Estey; mother, Olla Edna Estey; and sister, Lois Rebekah Estey McIntosh. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Rebecca Ann Waite Estey; sons, Brian Bill Estey, Jared Matthew Estey and girlfriend Tammy Gamache, and Seth Adam Estey and girlfriend Britney Velasquez; and daughter, Hannah Rebekah Estey. He also leaves his brother, David Howard Estey; two grandchildren, Sebastian and Ariel Ann Estey; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
