Obituary of Zbigniew Babinski

Belchertown- Zbigniew "Ziggy" Babinski, 61, passed away suddenly in his home on August 22, 2023. He was born on December 9, 1961 in Mielec, Poland, son of Wladyslaw and Zofia (Padykula) Babinski. In Poland, Zbigniew earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and won many ping pong championships. Zbigniew and his wife, Malgorzata "Margaret", moved to Chicopee in 1989 as political refugees, and later moved to Belchertown where they have resided for the last 16 years.
Ziggy was currently employed at J & E Precision in Southampton. He was an avid cyclist and loved animals, especially his dogs. Ziggy was a social butterfly, loved to entertain, and his generosity turned everyone he met into a friend. He liked to travel and loved to cook, but most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family- especially his beloved granddaughter Sofia.
Zbigniew was preceded in death by his father, Wladyslaw Babinski. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 38 years, Margaret Babinski, of Belchertown; daughter, Katarzyna "Kasia" Babinski-Toczko, her husband, Rafal, and their daughter, Sofia Rose, of Belchertown; mother, Zofia Babinski, of Poland; and his sister, Marzena Lasek, her husband, Janusz, of Poland, along with many other relatives and friends that became family while living in the United States.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 4-7pm at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 8:30am for a funeral procession to Christ the King Church in Ludlow for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM. Burial will immediately follow in South Cemetery in Belchertown. Donations in Ziggy's name can be made to Christ the King Church in Ludlow.
