Obituary of David S. Paul

Belchertown- David S. "Dave" Paul, 78, passed away January 17, 2024 with his loving wife by his side. He was born on October 22, 1945 in Ludlow to the late Lester and Phyllis (Kaczowka) Paul. Dave proudly served his country as a 1LT in the US Army, serving at the NORAD underground missile site in Colorado until his honorable discharge. Dave studied at Boston College and earned his MBA in Finance from Babson College. He held many accounting positions before becoming an Investment Advisor, a position held for many years before retiring. Dave was passionate about the stock market and was very good at his job. 
As a man of faith, Dave was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Belchertown; he served on the Finance Committee until he stepped down. He was also in the Oder of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Dave was a sportsman and enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and badminton. Dave enjoyed rating golf courses for the U.S.G.A.  He enjoyed the Jeff Holmes Band and Dave Sporney's Band, and he would go wherever they were playing.  He also found pleasure in the calm of the outdoors fishing and waiting for the next bite. Dave also had quite the collection of used stamps that filled many closet and cabinet spaces in his home.
Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by his aunts and uncle-in-law, Emily Kaczowka, Wanda Sniezyk and her husband Joseph, and Stella Tetrault and her husband Arthur. 
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 46 years, Maureen (Dunphy) Paul. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Kathleen Hunter and husband Dr. Kennith Hunter; neices, Melissa Diaz and Michelle Mahoney and husband Jeremy; great niece and nephews, Siobhan, Wyatt, and Grey; cousins, Monsignor Richard Sniezyk, Steve Tetrault and wife Linda, Karen Boucher and husband Danny, Linda Savage and husband Tom, and Judy Pepper and husband Bob; as well as many dear friends and neighbors.
Maureen would like to thank Baystate Hospice and Home Watch Caregivers of Western Mass for the kind and compassionate care that was provided to Dave in the past few months. 
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 4-7pm at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 10am for a procession to Dave's Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi. Burial will immediately follow in South Cemetery.
