Lucena Forni

Obituary of Lucena Ann Forni

Lucena Forni, 93, affectionately known as “Cena” to her friends, passed away surrounded by family at her home on January 17, 2024. She triumphantly entered heaven through the grace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was born on December 11, 1930 in Springfield, Mass. to Alexander and Louise Sullivan. She married the love of her life, Gerald Forni, on September 9, 1950. Together they raised three sons, Gary (Marie Anne), Keith (Jane) and Craig (Nancy). She lost her “Jerry Boy” in 2007, but is reunited with him now.

A resident of Belchertown for over 30 years, Cena absolutely adored her family and didn’t want to leave them. She was a doting Grandma of nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed working for many years at Baystate Medical Center as a CNA and unit secretary in Labor & Delivery, finally retiring at age 77.

Cena was a voracious reader; she loved to cook and dance and just be with her family. She recently began attending Christ Community Church in Belchertown and fell in love with everyone she met there. Thank you, Pastor Emmanuel, for being her favorite “surprise visitor.”

She was sweet but feisty. Anyone who ever met Cena loved her. She was an amazing woman who is, and will forever be, so very deeply missed.

Special thanks to her granddaughter Tara for the exceptional care she gave Cena in her final days, and all the others who helped out.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 10:00 am -12:00 pm followed by at service at 12:00 pm at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
