Joshua Przybycien

Obituary of Joshua Leo Przybycien

May you "remember me as a time of day...." It is with great sadness that we share that Joshua “Uncle Leo” Przybycien passed away suddenly on September 8th, 2023 at the age of 33 when he and his fiancé, Kathryn Workman were struck by a tree while camping. Joshua died doing what he loved in a place that he loved, surrounded by nature, which he held in the highest regard. He had an unquenchable thirst for adventure of all sorts from mountain biking to mosh pits to traveling to places such as his second home of Tobago, to finding his adventure curled up with a good book and a hot cup of tea that he brewed from the herbs he collected. One of his numerous skills was storytelling, captivating a crowd from his closest friends and family to a stranger he met passing by (who inevitably stopped to compliment him on his luscious locks). His smile and laughter were contagious, and he made such a powerful impact on everyone he encountered. The power that Joshua held within his spirit was like no other and his vitality did not come to an end with his death. His power was released into everything, into every animal, especially honeybees, into every plant with some extra love to the Tulsi basil, into nature with a deep connection to the oceans and into every idiosyncrasy between all that makes us human and our interactions with the world. He holds a particular power in the reflections of sunlight in bodies of water, which was one of his favorite things in this world.

Joshua was born to Penny (Boudreau) and Stephen Przybycien on January 31st, 1990. After graduating from high school, Joshua found his calling to herbalism and learned how to navigate this world with care, meaning and an appreciation for every part of our integrative system. Joshua loved nature and honored it in every capacity. He also enjoyed art and finding ways to express this avenue through things such as pottery or foraging for plants while barefoot. Joshua is a free and bountiful spirit, who lived his life exactly the way he wanted to live it. He awaits us all with his beloved dog Ruby, protecting us through every step.

His love will forever remain with his parents Penny and Steve, his fiancé Katy, as well as his brothers, Eric Przybycien and his wife Michelle of Three Rivers, Brian Przybycien and his wife Heather of TN, and his sisters Faith and Zoë of Three Rivers. Joshua's memory will forever remain with his dear nieces and nephews, Natalie, Ava, Tristan, Carter, Brady, Conner, Noah, Hudson and Blake as well as the countless members of his extended family and friends. Everyone who was touched by Joshua’s spirit will cherish his short but impactful time spent here in his physical form.

The visitation will be Tuesday, September 12th from 4-7pm at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish. The burial will follow in Sts Peter & Paul Cemetery.
