Obituary of Charles W. Lockwood

" Charles W. Lockwood, 91, of Longview St., died December 21, 2006. Born on January 11, 1915 in Marengo, Iowa, he was the son of the late John and Genevieve (Bond) Lockwood. Mr. Lockwood has lived in Palmer since 1926 and was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He served his country in the US ARMY during WWII. He also served in the Air Force Reserves after the war and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Lockwood retired in 1980 as the Thorndike Postmaster after working for 24 years for the United States Postal Service. Charles also worked for many years as a foreman for the former Better Brush Company. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Jean (Fountain) Lockwood. He also leaves a son Don Lockwood and his wife Shelley of Palmer, two daughters Paula Belisle and her husband Gerard of Palmer and Laurie Ostrand and her husband Matthew of Colorado. He will be missed by five grandchildren Benjamin Belisle and his wife Monique, Derek Belisle, Erik and Sara Ostrand and Courtney Lockwood. A funeral service will be Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to Mount Saint Vincent, 4159 Lowell Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80211, a former orphanage where he resides as a child."
