Obituary of Lois A. White

"Lois A. (Carrington) White, 92, of Pine Valley Plantation, was called to heaven on Tuesday at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow. Born in Springfield, June 25, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Goldie (Lydia) Carrington and lived in Springfield before moving to Dana where she lived until the start of Quabbin Reservoir. She then moved to Belchertown, and married Carl E. White in 1946, where they raised her three sons from a previous marriage. Lois was a physical therapy aide for Shriner’s Hospital for 20 years before retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ludlow and had also worked as a home care provider for the Quaboag Visiting Nurse Association for 12 years. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1977, a son Robert in 2002, a brother Robert in 1970, and a sister Emily Felder in 2003. She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Philip B. Tiernan of Northfield, and Charles H. Tiernan and his wife Alfreda of Monson. She also leaves four brothers Ernest and his wife Helen of Belchertown, Elmer and his wife Mary of Palmyra, Indiana, William of Belchertown, and Clifford of Chelsea, one sister Florence Pomeroy of E. Longmeadow, and a sister in law Sally Carrington of Granby. Lois also leaves her 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., (Rte. 202) followed by burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
