Obituary of Alma T. McDonald

" Alma T. (Yandow) McDonald, 85 of Munn Rd., died December 14, 2006 in Mary Lyon Skilled Care Center. Born on October 17, 1921 in North Adams, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Paradee) Yandow. Mrs. McDonald came to Monson when she was very young and has resided there ever since. Alma raised her children while working on the family farm then became a school driver for the towns of Monson and Wales for 16 years. She also worked as a secretary for her son’s business McDonald’s Builders. She was a member of the Monson Senior Center and in her leisure she loved to travel including traveling cross-country many times. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick L. McDonald, Jr. in 1991, a daughter Mary Ellen and a sister Doris Hope. She is survived by six children Donald Pelletier and his wife Gail, John Pelletier and his wife Debbie, Judith Haas and her husband Gary, Frederick L. McDonald, III, Susan McHand and Thomas McDonald and his wife Laurette all of Monson. She also leaves two sisters Yvonne McClosky of Monson and Anna Maliga of Springfield and fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:00am in the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by burial in Oak Knoll Cemetery. Calling hours and a video tribute will be Monday from 5:00-8:00pm. Donations may be made in her memory to Spina Bifida Association 4590 MacArthur Blvd, Ste. 250, Washington, DC 20007. "
