Obituary of Joseph A. Picanzo

" Joseph A. Picanzo, 80, of Chauncey Walker St., died November 25, 2006 with his family by his side. Born on Jan. 22, 1926, in Braintree, MA, he was the son of the late Michael and Josephine (Inuzzi) Picanzo. Mr. Picanzo has lived in Belchertown for 23 years and previously lived in Chicopee. He served his country during WWII in the US Marines; and was wounded in Iwojima and received the Purple Heart; he was also a lifetime member of the Belchertown VFW post 8428 and Disabled American Veterans. Joseph was a van driver for Hulmes Transportation for 10 years; he also worked for Art Cement in Wilbraham. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Rita (Roberts) Picanzo and three stepchildren Joseph Desormiers of Carmel, IN, Joanna Kolours of Hayfork, CA and Donna Brogle of Chicopee. He will also be missed by seven grandchildren and five great granddaughters. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 10:00am in the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St.(Rt.116) S. Hadley, MA . Burial to follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 11:00am. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Life Care of Holyoke, 113 Hampden St., Holyoke, MA 01040"
