Obituary of Helen M. Rhodes

"Holyoke – Helen (Martin) Rhodes, 93, died October 23, 2006 at Holyoke Medical Center after a short illness. Born on Nov. 29, 1912, in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Daisy B. (Thompson) Martin. Helen grew up in Belchertown and graduated from Belchertown High School in 1931. She lived there for 85 years before moving to N. Ft. Myers Florida in 1975 then in 2002 she returned to this area and resided in Holyoke. Mrs. Rhodes was a 50 year member of Mount Vernon Chapter No. 97, Order of the Eastern Star which she was a past Worthy Matron. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Stanley F. Rhodes in 1995. She is survived by two sons Stanley F. Rhodes, Jr. and his wife Joann of Rutland, VT, Kenneth W. Rhodes and his wife Dorothy of Belchertown and a daughter Eleanor A. Rhodes of Holyoke as well as nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Helen also leaves a niece Jean Phaneuf of Belchertown and a sister in law Yvonne Pelletier of Three Rivers. A Funeral service will be Friday at 3:00pm in the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Calling hours will precede the service on Friday from 1:00-3:00pm with an Eastern Star service at 2:00pm. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104. "
