Obituary of Madlyn Ellithorpe

"Madlyn (Kmon) Ellithorpe, 89, of the Thorndike section of Palmer, died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Wing Memorial Hospital. Born in Ware on June 14, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Christine Kmon and has lived in the area for most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church. In her leisure, Madlyn enjoyed winters at Jensen Beach Florida where she became a pro shuffleboard player. In addition, Madlyn was an active member of the Thorndike Polish Women’s Club and a volunteer worker for the building fund drive of Wing Memorial Hospital. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 70 years, William J. Ellithorpe, Sr., along with, her son William and his wife Beverly of Newbury, Vermont; and her daughter Christine Smith and her husband Wayne of Palmer. She also leaves two brothers, Edward of Ware, and Joseph of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, along with her three grandchildren Terry Smith, and Larry and Glenn Reed, as well as three great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be Saturday, September 23 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas Church. Burial will be held privately at a later date. A calling hour will precede the mass from 9:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home.
