Obituary of Roger M. Martel

"Palmer – Roger M. Martel, 82, died July 22, 2006 at Health South Rehabilitation. Born in Berlin, NH on October 3, 1923, he was the son of the late Louis and Evelyn (Turcotte) Martel. Mr. Martel has lived in Palmer since 1958 and previously resided in Lewiston, ME. Roger was a Veteran who served his country in the US Air Force during WWII and the Korean War he was also a member of the American Legion Post 130. Roger was a foreman at Pierson Industries in Palmer for 29 years and retired in 1987. He was predeceased by his wife Doris (Fortier) Martel in 1991 and a daughter Joanne Martel in 1967. He is survived by a son Ronald Martel and his wife Martha of Topsham, ME a daughter Agnes Kwasnik and her husband Joseph of Monson and five step children Daniel, Alfred, Edna, Loic and Lucien. He also leaves 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 11:00am in St. Thomas Church, followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the mass from 9:30-10:30am in the BEERS & STORY PALMER FUNERAL HOME. Donations may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society, 59 Bobala Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040. "
