Obituary of Irene M Bach

"South Hadley-Irene, 93, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her 4 children on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Born on June 18th, 1923 in Holyoke to Joseph and Julia (Klowan) Mercier, she was the 2nd of 4 sisters. Irene graduated from Holyoke High School in 1941. She worked in the Springfield Armory from 1942 to 1946, the year she married Joe Bach and moved to South Hadley. She later worked in the cashier's office at UMASS for 25 years, retiring in her 70's. Irene loved to dance and collected all of Fred Astaire's musicals. Irene bowled for 44 years in a candlepin league in Holyoke and she was a member of the Women's League at Westover Golf Course. She was a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan. She is survived by her 4 loving children, Linda Rusin (Ronald), Joseph Bach (Annmarie), Susan Bach, and Kenneth Bach (Elizabeth), her 10 grandchildren, Nathan Rusin (Lisa), Natalia Hancock (Chris), Nicholyn DePaolo (Michael), Jamie and Grace Miller, Adam, David, Christopher and Joseph Bach, Julie Mallon (Michael) and 5 great-grandchildren, Duke, Ruby, Rory, Adler and Eoin. She also leaves her sister and best friend, Anne Lecuyer. She was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph and her sisters Claire Demers and Joan Malanowski. Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov 26th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Nov. 28th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church with burial to follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home between 9-9:15 a.m. on Monday or meet directly at the church. "
