Obituary of Dorothy Ethel Johnson

"Dorothy E. (Stewart) Johnson, 96, died January 2, 2006 at Wing Memorial Hospital. Born in Slingerlands, NY, October 26, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Frank R. and Ethel (Sargent) Stewart. She grew up in New York State, later attended school in Barre, MA, and has lived in Palmer since 1924, graduating from its high school in 1928. Mrs. Johnson was an active member of the Second Baptist Church in Palmer for over 50 years, serving on many boards and committees over the years. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Ernest H. Johnson in 1972 and a son, David E. Johnson in 1998. She is survived by a daughter Sylvia T. Ainsleigh and her husband George of Ashburnham, MA, a son, Stewart E. Johnson and his wife Robin of Palmer, a daughter in law Barbara Johnson of Ware. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Peter Hogan of Fitchburg, Andrew Hogan of Worcester, Paula Goulston of Winchendon, Tisa Mason of Whitewater, WI, Cindy Gurney of Westfield, Todd Johnson of Enfield, CT, Stewart Theodore Johnson of Torrington, CT, Matthew and Jared Johnson of Palmer, Christine Johnson of Chicopee and Eric Johnson of Ware. She also leaves three great grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jessica Johnson, and Connor David Roe, along with three cousins and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church. There are no calling hours.
