Obituary of Laurie M. Stevens

"SOUTH HADLEY and TRENTON, ME - Laurie M. Stevens, born Feb. 12, 1943 to Henry and Geneva Ouellette of So. Hadley MA. passed away Jan. 3, 2010 at her home in Trenton. ME. She is survived by her husband, Howard , her son H. Scott and family Maureen, Keaton and Brooke of Mt Desert, ME, son Dale and family Penny, Anastasia, and Veronica of Woodbridge, VA daughter Cynthia McFarland and husband Tom of No. Chester, MA. She is also survived by her mother Geneva Ouellette of Holyoke, MA, her three brothers Henry and wife Deanna of Lenox, MA, George of Santa Barbara, CA, Robert and wife Cathy of Poolesville, MD and her sister, Marcia of S. Hadley MA., as well as several nieces, nephews and many close friends. Her life was her interest in the arts especially her pottery. She established Evergreen Pottery 38 years ago and thirteen years ago with her son and daughter-in-law, Maureen, opened , in Bar Harbor as Evergreen Gallery. She was a graduate of So. Hadley High and later graduated as an Art History Major from Mt. Holyoke College. She was the ceramics instructor at Holyoke Community College for several years before she and Howard came back to Maine. She promoted the arts where and whenever she could and served a term as chair of the So. Hadley Arts Council as well as initiating arts programs for children. A memorial service will be held at 12pm Saturday Jan. 16, 2010 at Beers & Story Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street, South Hadley, MA. Relatives and friends are welcome to a gathering from 11am until time of service Saturday.
