Obituary of Frederick W. Piechota

"Frederick W. Piechota, 84, of S. High St in the Bondsville section of Palmer, died Friday, January 08, in Worcester. Born in Bondsville, June 3, 1925, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Balon) Piechota and was a lifelong resident. A veteran of the US Navy, Fred served his country during WWII and belonged to Amvets Post 74 and American Legion Post 130. During his working career he worked for the Palmer School Dept. for 10 years until retiring in 1998. He had also been the Superintendent of the Bondsville Water District for many years, and worked for Uniroyal for 30 years. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Belchertown Council 10698. Fred was a member and past Vice President of St. Mary's Society, and a member and past Vice President of Swift River Sportsmen's Club in Belchertown. He was also a member of the Polish American Citizen's Club. He served on the board for the Northeast Rural Water department and was involved with Boy Scout Troop 160 for 15 years. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Alice (Salamon) Piechota, along with his son Frederick , Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Brimfield, and daughter Susan Soroko and her husband Alexander of Arlington, VA. He also leaves 3 grandchildren, Sonya, Valaria and Anna and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story BELCHERTOWN Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., (Rte.202) followed by a mass in St. Francis Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
