Obituary of Floyd R. Peeso

"Belchertown – Floyd “Ray” R. Peeso, Jr., 72, of Franklin St., died at home on July 18, 2005. Born February 21, 1933 in Roosevelt, Long Island, NY, he was the son of the late Floyd, Sr. and Ada (Batchelor) Peeso. Ray was a life long resident of Belchertown. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Peeso owned F.R. Peeso & Sons Excavating in Belchertown from 1965 until he retired in 1990. His business is currently operating in its fourth generation. He was a life member of the Ware V.F.W. Post 8428, he was a volunteer fireman for Belchertown for 25 years and was on the Cemetery Commission for 12 years. Ray enjoyed antique tractor pulling competitions, collecting matchbox cars and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Luana (Kelly) Peeso and four children Audrey Gay of W. Palm Beach, FL, Ada Lafland of Smithville, OH, Robert R. Peeso of Philmont, NY and William Peeso of Belchertown. He also leaves a sister Gail Bates of Agawam and a half brother James Leamous of Enfield, CT as well as seven granddaughters. A funeral service will be Friday at 10:00 am in the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, followed by burial in South Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 pm. Donations may be made in his memory to the Belchertown Fire Fighters Association or to the Baystate V.N.A, P.O. Box 690 Ware, MA 01082. "
