Obituary of Robert H. Crowther

"Monson, Robert H. Crowther, 81, of Palmer Road died Saturday, December 26, 2009 with the love of his family surrounding him. Born in Ware, April 4, 1928, he was the son of the late Joshua and Bertha (Cook) Crowther and grew up in Enfield, MA area of the Quabbin. He lived in Monson since 1972 and previously lived in Three Rivers. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1949. Bob worked for the former Diamond National Corporation and was also a charter and school bus driver for Palmer Motor Coach. Bob retired from Pathfinder Regional High School as the assistant head custodian after 13 years of service. With retiring from First Student as a bus driver, he later became a crossing guard in Belchertown. He was a member of the Monson Bellmen and a Scout Master in both Three Rivers and Monson. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Joan (Harris) Crowther, his children, Dale Crowther and wife Paula of Three Rivers, Mark Crowther and wife Susan of S. Hadley, Marcus Phipps and wife Michelle, Michael Phipps and fiancé Georgina and Jeffery Phipps all of Monson, along with daughter-in-law Eileen Crowther of Belchertown. He leaves his siblings, Raymond Cook, Sr. of Brimfield, Dorothy Crowther of Bondsville, and Mary Chapin and Shirley Pierce both of Belchertown. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren will greatly miss their Grandpa and Grampy. He will also be missed by his dogs, Buddy and Candy. Bob was predeceased by a son, Bruce Crowther in 2008 and a brother Philip Crowther in 1960. The Red Sox and the N.Y.Giants teams will miss an avid fan. He touched the lives of many with his fun loving and sociable personality, and will be missed by all who came to know him. A service to remember his life will be Wednesday, December 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, (Rte 20) followed by burial in Quabbin Park Cemetery, Ware.
