Obituary of Elizabeth C. Campion

"Agawam, Elizabeth C. (Quirk) Campion, 84, of Quail Run, died suddenly December 6 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Chicopee, December 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Annie (Rahilly) Quirk. Betty lived in Wilbraham and Belchertown for many years before moving to Agawam in 2002. A graduate of the Elms, and a masters degree from AIC, she spent 25 years as an elementary teacher in Indian Orchard, retiring in 1984. A passion for education, she had been a member of the Springfield Education Association as a faculty representative, along with memberships in Mass. Teachers Assoc., and National Education Assoc. A former communicant of St. Francis Church in Belchertown, she was presently a communicant of Sacred Heart in Agawam. Her loving husband Gerald H. Campion predeceased her in 2002. She will be deeply missed by her 6 children of whom she was so proud, Christine Hurst and her husband Michael of Belchertown, Marilyn Thompson and her husband Wayne of Westfield, Gerald S. of Chicopee, Theresa Roy and her husband Al of Wilbraham, Kevin J. and his wife Judy (Bilodeau) of Wilbraham, and Paul J. and his wife Margaret (Kysor) of Naperville, IL. She was predeceased by Patricia (Martin) Campion, wife of Gerald S. She also leaves her 15 precious grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by 5 brothers and 4 sisters, she will be deeply missed by her brother Daniel J. Quirk of Chicopee and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many friends at Quail Run who affectionately referred to her as "Bingo Betty". Funeral services will be Thursday, December 10 at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., (Rte. 202) followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church, Belchertown. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chicopee.
