Obituary of Ernest W. Hermanson

" Ernest W. “Dup” Hermanson, Sr., of Royce Lane died April 23 at his home. Born in Monson, December 18, 1925, he was the son of the late Einar and Olivia (Nygard) Hermanson. He grew up and lived in Monson for most of his life before moving to Wales four years ago. Ernie served in the Army during WW II and after the service, he and his brothers worked the family business, Hermanson Brothers Construction, for many years, providing all types of construction services. He later worked for Utility Manufacturing in Wilbraham for many years, and retired from Monson Developmental Center in 1989 after 10 years. Dup will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Edith L. (Miller) Hermanson, along with his 2 daughters, Katherine Bodzioch and Sheila Chabot both of Wales, and his two sons, Ernest W., Jr. of Sturbridge, and Edwin A. of Monson. He leaves a brother Raymond of Monson and his 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by six brothers. A Service of Remembrance will be held Tuesday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to either Stavros Center for Independent Living, Amherst, or Holyoke Soldiers Home, Holyoke."
