Obituary of Martin Gal

"Belchertown, Massachusetts - Martin Gal, 82, passed away on November 8, 2008. Martin was born June 2, 1927 in Springfield, Ohio, son of the late Mathias and Molly (Goldberg) Gal. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Carnegie Mellon University, his Masters of Theater Arts from the University of Texas and was a WWII US Navy veteran. Professionally, Martin worked as an author, a producer at National Educational Television, which later became Public Broadcasting Service, a businessman and a real estate broker. He enjoyed writing, graphic arts and acting, along with charades, storytelling, country dancing and filmmaking. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Jean (Genebach) Gal, along with his children, Hillary Gal and husband Bill Kiley of NY, NY, Graham Gal and wife Francine Fink Gal of Amherst, MA, Susannah Baxter-Gal and husband Hilton Baxter of Binghamton, NY, David Nelson-Gal and wife Julia Nelson-Gal of Palo Alto, CA, and Alyson Allen and husband Ralph Allen of Milton, MA. He leaves eleven grandchildren, Robert Kiley, Justin, Lyle and David Gal, Christine and Katrin Baxter, Maxwell, Tobey and Jackson Nelson-Gal, and Andre and Emma Allen and a great grandson Mason Alexander Gal. Martin is survived by siblings Richard Gal of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Ruth Sicherman of Cleveland, Ohio and Eleanor Estabrook of Geneva, Ohio.
