Obituary of Genevieve G. Janosz

"Palmer-Genevieve G. (Tenczar) Janosz, 95, of Sykes St. passed away October 3, 2009 at Baystate Medical Center with her loving family at her side. Born in Palmer on April 11, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Victoria (Albin) and Jacob Tenczar. A lifelong resident of Palmer, she has participated in a wide variety of civic, fraternal, church and community organizations. She has always been proud of her Polish Heritage and held many offices in Polish clubs in the area, including The Massachusetts Federation of Polish Women's Clubs, President from 1981 - 1983, a member of The Polish Women's Club of Three Rivers since the age of 18, a member of the Polanie Club in Indian Orchard, and charter member and first secretary of the United Polish American Organizations Council of Palmer. Genevieve was active in the life of Sts. Peter & Paul Church. She was part of the perpetual Adoration Group and served as chairman on the 75th anniversary of the church. She was a member for over 80 years of the St. Cecelia's Choir and a past president. She was past president of the Mother's Club of Sts. Peter & Paul School, and was a member of the Rosary Sodality. Being a staunch Republican, she was appointed to the Palmer Republican Town Committee in 1942 and has served her political interests to the present. In 1983, Genevieve was the recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award. She was also appointed to the Palmer Council on Aging and had served as its secretary. She was appointed to the Board of Registrars has continued serving since 1981 to present. Employed at Diamond National Corp for over 17 years, she continued her professional career with her husband to own and operate Pine View Florist Shop in Three Rivers for over 30 years. Genevieve enjoyed traveling the world first class with her husband to many foreign countries including Poland, South America, Russia, China, Egypt, and Jerusalem trips. Her love of ballroom dancing was shared with her husband along with her tender care of her flowers and immaculately landscaped yard. Though she served on hundreds of committees and was involved with numerous activities, Genevieve's greatest love was for her family. Preceded in death by her husband John E. Janosz, Sr. 25 years ago, she will be greatly missed by her son John E. Janosz, Jr. and his wife Regina I. of Three Rivers, along with their children, Lynne Jasak and her husband Randolph of Thorndike, Susan Grassi and her husband Joseph of Webster, NY, Mary Beth Tripp and her husband Steven of Palmer, Michael Janosz of Granby, Mark Janosz and his wife Kathy of Warren. Genevieve also leaves her daughter Marcia A. Topor and her husband Attorney Walter S. of Palmer along with their children Attorney Karl W. Topor of Natick, and Lori J. Topor of N. Brookfield. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Genevieve is the last surviving and youngest child of 10. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to continue to Sts. Peter & Paul Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery. Donations may be made to either Sts. Peter & Paul Church Scholarship Fund, 267 Main Street, Three Rivers, 01080 or its Burse Fund. "
