Obituary of Barbara Louise Gagnon

"Chicopee- Barbara L. (Lovejoy) Gagnon, 87, of Memorial Ave., died December 25, 2004 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Lunenburg, MA July 30, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Sr. and Florence (Boutwell) Lovejoy. Mrs. Gagnon has lived in Chicopee for the past two years, previously residing in Agawam for 26 years and grew up in Fitchburg; graduating from Fitchburg High School in 1936. Working as a bookkeeper at the former Dairy Brothers in Leominster, she retired after 15 years of employment. Barbara was a longtime member and very active in the Agawam Congregational Church where she also served as the assistant clerk and was a member of the Ladies Aide and the Fellowship Guild. Barbara was a member of the Golden Ages Chapter two in Agawam for 18 years, a member of the Agawam Garden Club, where she also served as treasurer, and the Agawam Salt Council (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together). She was predeceased by her husband Lucien Gagnon in 1959 and is survived by a son Richard and son-in-law Clive Eric Godwin of Natick, a daughter Linda of S.Hadley and son-in-law William Schoenborn of Agawam, two granddaughters Kim Cloutier and her husband Stephen and their children Courtney and Andrew of W.Springfield, and Christine Schoenborn and her children Carter and Griffin of S.Hadley. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story S.Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. (Rte 116). Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Fitchburg. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., Agawam, MA.
