Obituary of William Barry

"Belchertown - William "Gramps" Barry, 90, died on August 14, 2009 at home with his family by his side. Born April 3, 1919 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Roach) Barry. William owned and operated his own mink farm for many years and worked as a maintenance worker for Springfield Sugar for 20 years before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed gardening and cherished time spent with his family. William's wife, Alberta M. (Hauschild), predeceased him in 1998. He will be deeply missed by his five children, Lauri Aliengena and her husband Jim of Belchertown, Louise Barry of Three Rivers, Tina Peet and her husband Charlie of Monson, Catherine Mahon of South Hadley and William Barry, Jr. of Chicopee and his fiance, Jean, along with his 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and his son-in-law, Pete Langtange of IN. His sister, Peg of CA, also survives him. Besides his wife, his daughter Mary Langtange predeceased him in 1992. Services will be held at Lauri's home located at 451 Michael Sears Rd., Belchertown, on Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations in William's name may be made to The Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
