Obituary of Joanne Smith

"Springfield, Joanne Smith, 54, died July 9 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Palmer, November 26, 1954, she was the daughter of Alice Smith of Palmer and the late Charles Smith. Joanne grew up in Palmer and has lived in Springfield for most of her life. She worked for many years for Mass Mutual in various capacities. In addition to her mother, she will be deeply missed by her children James E. Smith of W. Springfield, Joshua I. Billups of Springfield, and Kendra Smith of Orlando, FL. She also leaves her siblings David Smith of Palmer, Nancy Spencer of E. Hartford, Linda Smith-Williams of Springfield, Jane Smith of Belchertown, Mary Smith-Witherspoon of Southbridge, Debra Smith of Holyoke, and Joy Smith of Amherst, along with 2 grandchildren. Besides her father, a brother Charles, Jr. preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life service will be Wednesday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St., (Rte. 20). A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. "
