Obituary of David W. Crowther

"David W. Crowther, 80, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 7 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Huntington, MA on January 25, 1929, he was the son of the late Cyril and Alice (Robertson) Crowther. David proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. He has resided in Belchertown since 1980 and prior to that lived in Florence. David was a communicant of St. Francis Church. He was an electrical engineer at Monsanto and most recently at Northeast Utilities before his retirement. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Jeannette M. (Lamica), along with his three daughters, Edith Childs and her husband Donald of Florence, Crystal Childs and her partner Charles Florio of Hatfield, and Karen West and her husband Phillip of Hadley. His 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and his sister, Marion Smith of MO also survive him. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 11, at Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Church at 9:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Donations in David's memory may be made to the Belchertown Senior Center. "
