Obituary of Iona M Murray

"Ware, Iona M. (Nadeau) Murray, 68, died Tuesday, June 30. Born in Ludlow, August 21, 1940, she has lived in the area most of her life. She graduated from Cathedral High School and attended American International College. She worked at the Registry of Motor Vehicles and Mass Mutual while in school, and later at Sunshine Art School, Bell Telephone and Wholesale Liquor Company until her marriage in 1959. She was a former communicant of St. Michael's Church in Springfield and St. Bartholomew's Church in Bondsville and a past member of the Daughters of Isabella. Through the years she taught catechism at St. Bartlolomew's and Title One at Ware Schools. She lovingly cared for her three sons with Muscular Dystrophy. A dedicated mother and grandmother, she also enjoyed gourmet cooking, reading, music and working on a miniature dollhouse. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 50 years, George J. Murray, Jr., along with her daughter Colleen E. Convery, and her husband Gerald P., III, her two granddaughters Erika L. and Alyssa I. Convery. She also leaves her sister Isla Fay Hoy and husband James of FL and family, along with sister in law Carol Reneaud of Franklin, MA and family. Besides her parent, her three sons, Christopher G., Patrick J. and Kevin M. preceded her in death. Friends and family are invited to gather directly at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Thorndike St., Palmer for a liturgy of Christian burial on Friday, July 3 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
