Obituary of Mary T. Denniss

"Mary E. (Tierney) Denniss, 84, of Springfield St, died suddenly on Friday. October 1, 2004. Born in Ogdensburg, New York, April 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Marjorie (Hutchison) Tierney. A graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy and State University of New York at Potsdam, Mrs. Denniss has lived in Wilbraham since 1960. She was a teacher in the Palmer Public Schools for 20 years before retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Palmer Retired Teacher’s Group, the Massachusetts Retired Teacher’s Association, and the National Retired Teacher’s Association and was also a member of the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Universalist – Unitarian Church in Palmer, had served as the chairman of membership, was in charge of the weekly readers, and had served on the search committee for a new minister. Her husband of 62 years, Homer C. Denniss, a son James of Wilbraham, a daughter Jane Alois of Monson and a granddaughter Katherine A. Balog of Cromwell, Connecticut survive Mrs. Denniss. A Memorial Service in her honor will be held on Saturday, October 9, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul’s Universalist – Unitarian Church. Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made in her memory to the St. Paul’s Universalist – Unitarian Church, 1060 Central St, Palmer, 01069, or to the American heart Association, 1111 Elm Street, W. Springfield, 01089. "
