Obituary of Robert Williams

" Robert E. Williams, Jr., 68, of Rockrimmon Rd., died suddenly on Saturday in Rhode Island. Born in Ludlow, August 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Robert E., Sr., and Gertrude H. (Merkel) Williams. He grew up in Ludlow and Springfield and moved to Belchertown 46 years ago. He worked for Rugcraft for several years. For most of his life he worked as a laborer in the construction industry for Halon Construction. He also worked for Asplundh Tree Company before retiring. An avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and ocean fishing, Bob was a former member of the Fairview Sportsmen’s Club and the Swift River Sportsmen’s Club. He was also a member of the Tri County Coon Club and the Vernon Lodge of Masons in Belchertown. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy A. (Johnson) Williams in 2002. He will be deeply missed by his five children Robert E., and James L. Williams, and Diane G. Mont all of Belchertown, Debora Oyer of Holyoke, and David R. of Ware, along with his eight grandchildren Robert, Kelly, Jason and Jessica Williams, Kyle Oyer, David and Ashley Burnham and Thomas Mont. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a grandson, Tanner Williams in 1988. He also leaves two great-grandsons, Riley Williams and Cameron Burnham. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, (Rte. 202). Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to Shriner’s Hospital For Crippled Children, Carew Street, Springfield. "
