Obituary of Margaret Rose Chelkonas

"Margaret R. (Bartlett) Chelkonas, 73, died on Wednesday, September 1, on Cape Cod. Born in Springfield, October 16, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Dwight and Marion (Otto) Bartlett. Margaret grew up and lived for many years in Springfield and was a graduate of Tech High School. She has lived in Granby for the past 12 years. She worked for Springfield Armory, Dot Lortie Realty and Westover Air Force Base before retiring in 1990. She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Margaret was the beloved wife of 49 years to Anthony Chelkonas, the loving mother of Karen Ingraham and her husband Richard of Sandy, Utah, Michael Chelkonas and Sherrilynn of Springfield, and Mary-Lyn Alonzo and her husband Glenn of Simsbury, CT. She was the cherished grandmother of Melissa Ingraham, Elizabeth and Emily Alonzo, and the dear sister to Elizabeth Jekot of Belchertown, Mary Jean Hancock of Boca Raton, FL and Linda Connery of Springfield. A funeral mass will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, followed by burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be Saturday prior to the mass from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m. at the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St, (Rte 116). Donations are requested to be made in her memory to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 256 State St, Granby, MA 01033."
