Obituary of Daniel B. Lee

"Palmer, Daniel B. Lee, Jr., 77, of French Dr., died June 3 at Palmer House Healthcare. Born in Springfield, February 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Daniel B. and Alice (Sharrow) Lee and has lived in the Lake Thompson area since 1959. Daniel graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 195l and was a Veteran of the U. S. Army where he served during the Korean conflict 1952-1954. Prior to pursuing a career in Law Enforcement he worked as a construction worker in the Springfield area. In June 1974 Daniel received an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement at STCC and served the Town of Palmer as a police officer for 14 years, and Inspector for the Registry of Motor Vehicles for 13 years, retiring in December, 1992 from Mass. State Police. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle church for over 45 yrs. Dan was a member of the MMVIA Inspectors Assoc., American Legion Post 130 in Palmer, was a volunteer at Wing Hospital for several years as well as a member of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 93 prior to his illness. Dan enjoyed playing golf, making Teddy Bears for friends and family after his retirement. He spent the winter months in Florida with his wife. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 51 years, Carol (Warren) Lee, children: Robert Lee and his wife Karla of Alabama, Ann Monette and husband Steve of New Hampshire, Deborah Lee of Ohio, Carol Anne Carlson of Connecticut and Thomas Lee of Monson, along with 9 grandchildren: Trisha, Daniel, IV, Shannon , Derek, Frankie, Levi, Daniel Thomas, Rebecca, Abel and 3 great-grandsons, Gavin, Nick and Shawn. His twin sister Dorothy Davenport of Tennessee also survives him. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his son Daniel B. Lee III, brother Warren Lee and sister-in-law Jane, and brother-in-law Ken Davenport. Calling hours will be Sunday, June 7 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St., (Rte. 20). A funeral service will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to, Mass.
