Obituary of Raymond L. Goff

"Belchertown, Raymond L. Goff, 78, died, Wednesday May 6, 2009 at Baystate Medical Center with his family by his side. Born on August 22, 1930 in Hobart, IN, he was the son of the late Fred and Vesta (Kimerly) Goff. Raymond proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a 20-year veteran. While serving in the military, his assignments included, Westover AFB, Tripoli, Libya, Charles AFB in SC, O'Hare Int. in Chicago, Stewart AFB and Hq AMFEA, Chateauroux, France, where he received the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service. He has resided in Belchertown since 1968. Ray was a member of the American Legion Post in Belchertown and Disabled American Veterans'. Upon retiring from the military he worked at Spalding Corp. in Chicopee for twenty years. Ray also owned and operated Goff and Goff Realty in Belchertown for 10 years with his wife Frances and was employed by Jones Baypath Realty and most recently Coldwell Banker in Belchertown. He was a proud member of the Realtors Association of Pioneer Valley and recently received his 36-year pin. His first wife, Mary D. Rouleau predeceased him in 1972. He will be deeply missed by his wife of thirty years, Frances (Smith), his four children, Thomas and his wife Brenda of Show Low, AZ, Raymond and his wife Wendy of Centerville, MA, Annette Mosher and her partner Gene Burbee of Palmer, Michelle Bullock and her husband Ross of Washington, DC, along with his two step children, Lynn Laurin Mattos and her husband Brian of Fish Camp CA and Gary Hildebrandt and his wife Lynn of IN. He is also survived by his eleven cherished grandchildren, Amy, Morgan, Stephanie, Natalie, Lucas, Jennifer, Norman, Felicia, Olivia, Rachel, Anne Marie and great grandchildren, Robyn and anxiously awaiting the birth of his second great granddaughter, Morgan, along with many brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews. Besides his first wife and parents, two grandsons, Curtis and Timmy predeceased him. A celebration of life service will be on Saturday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., Rte 202. Burial will follow in South Cemetery.
