Obituary of Betty Jane Hickey

"Palmer-Betty Jane (Bruso) Hickey, 78, of Baptist Hill Rd., died July 30 at Quaboag on the Common. Born in Lakeland, FL, April 11, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Mary (Connors) Bruso. Betty Jane has lived in Palmer for 45 years, previously residing in Worcester. She worked in the underwriting department of Paul Revere Insurance Company and retired from the accounting department at CFI Credit Union. Mrs. Hickey was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and actively participated in church events. She was also a member of Club 55 and enjoyed bowling. Betty Jane was predeceased by her husband Francis in 1995. She is survived by a brother William Bruso of Auburn, sisters Marjorie Mercier of CA, Shirley Yanoshak of PA, Nancy Luukko of FL and several nieces and nephews. Betty Jane was predeceased by her siblings Robert Bruso, Richard Bruso, Alvin Bruso, Walter Bruso, Beverly Sheppard, and Muriel Harrington. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Rochs Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours will be Monday from 5-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wing Memorial Hospital, 40 Wright St., Palmer, MA 01069.
