Obituary of Edith I. Rowland

"Monson-Edith I. (Walendzik) Rowland, 93, of Town Farm Rd., passed away April 30, 2009 at Wingate at Wilbraham. Born May 6, 1915 in S.Deerfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Aleksander and Frances (Milewski) Walendzik. In 1933, Edith proudly graduated from S.Deerfield High School, the only one of seven children in her family. Raising her children in the Forest Park section of Springfield, Edith later moved to Northampton and has lived with her son Daniel in Monson since 2000. She loved to read and was devoted to her family. Edith was predeceased in death by her husband Hubert M. Rowland in 1998 and will be greatly missed by her two children, Daniel with whom she lived, and Jeannie and her husband Joseph Popiolek of Northampton. She also leaves 3 granddaughters, Rebecca Rowland and her husband Kevin Bell and Sarah Rowland, Stephanie Popiolek, 1 great grandson Dominic Popiolek and a second great grandchild expected in June. She was predeceased by all 6 of her siblings, including her twin sister. Services will be privately held and Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
