Obituary of John J. Bak

"John J. Bak, Jr., 66, of Bondsville passed away Sunday, April 26, after a long illness, at his daughter's home in Fiskdale surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 9, 1942 to the late John, Sr., and Mary (Cichon) Bak. John grew up in Bondsville and was a graduate of Palmer High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an active member of the Amvets Post 74, especially the Chowhound meetings, the Swift River Sportsman's Club, the American Legion, St. Joe's Club, and St. Mary's Club. John was also a proud member of the NRA. After over 30 years of service, he retired from Verizon Communications. John is survived by his loving children, Melissa Donohoe and her husband Patrick of Fiskdale, their children, Lily, Jack, Kate and Samantha; Shelly Williamson and her husband Donald of Thorndike, and their children, Tori, Luke and Jake; Jason Bak and his wife Kendall of Chatham, IL. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Bak of Ware, and his children Barbara Moran of Ware, and Timothy Bak of FL; along with his girlfriend, Marie Mastroianni of E. Longmeadow. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 29 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St. A service to remember his life will be Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. following the service. Committal services with military honors will be Friday, May 1 at 3:00 at Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
