Obituary of Henry Eisler Allen

"South Hadley, MA, Henry Eisler Allen, beloved father and husband died gently at the ripe age of 97 on April 20, 2009 with family by his side. Henry was born and raised in New York and lived most of his life in the Westchester County area before relocating to South Hadley in 2007 to be in close proximity with his step daughter Barbara Perman, whose support is greatly appreciated. His family and friends celebrate his life of curiosity, enthusiasm and generosity from which all who knew him were enriched. He had a long and successful career in engineering well into his 80's. He developed and patented various inventions and products, including vinyl foam and Cybex exercise equipment used nationwide by physical therapists today. He was active in civic life as well, as president of the Mamaroneck School Board and later as a member of the Board of the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains. His business opinions were well respected and sought by many. His first wife of (years), Margaret "Margie" ?, predeceased him in ?. He will be deeply missed by his second wife for the past 12 years, Edith (Perman), his two children, Catherine L. Allen of CA and Kenneth L. Allen and his wife Margaret of Napa, CA along with his three step children, Richard and Ellen Perman of CA, Barbara Perman and her friend James ? of Amherst, MA and Alice Leveston and her husband Ronald of FL. His two grandchildren, six step grandchildren and two great step grandchildren also survive him. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
