Obituary of Girard Lucien Poirier

"Las Vegas, NV, Girard Lucien Poirier, 70, formerly of Springfield, MA, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004 in Las Vegas. Born Feb 24, 1934 in New York City, he was the son of the late Lucien and Jeanne (Chaput) Poirier. Mr. Poirier moved to New Jersey in 1947, where he attended Princeton High School and Hun Prep School. He served in US Army 1954-1956, honorably discharged with rank of Corporal. In 1956, he Moved to Springfield, MA, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1960. He spent most of his working career as a field agent for the IRS, retiring in 1992, after 29 years. He previously worked for Dunn & Bradstreet as a service manager from 1960-1962. Gerry moved to Las Vegas in 1995 where he lived until his death. He was a member of AARP and American Legion Post 0277, Indian Orchard, MA. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Gloria Mae (LaDue) Poirier of Las Vegas, NV, three sons, Paul of Coral Springs, FL, Steven of Orange Park, FL and Girard Jr., Chesapeake, VA, along with his two daughters, Laura Frey, New Port Richey, and Alice Sansonetti, New Port Richey, FL, and 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He also leaves five step children, Donna West of Las Vegas, NV, Robin Haefs of Las Vegas, NV , Teenia Lemire of Pittsburg, NH, Velvet Rock of Greenfield, MA and David Benoni, Snowmass, CO. Besides his parents, he was predeceased his sister Henriette Toepfer. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, (Rte 20) followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sienna Church. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. "
