Obituary of Robert Joseph Dunn

"Robert J. Dunn, 63, of Sturbridge Rd. died suddenly on Tuesday at home. Born in Jersey City, NJ, June 29, 1940, Bob grew up in New Jersey, later moving to Killingworth, CT where he lived for 15 years. He has lived in Brimfield for the past 10 years. During Bob’s working career, he was always involved in the newspaper industry, first as a typesetter for the Meriden Record Journal while at Central Connecticut University. He later founded Reliable Publishers Supply, to which he dedicated the past 20 years, serving newspapers countrywide. He also developed an interest in breeding, raising and showing champion Irish Setters and Golden Retrievers. For the past 30 years that interest has taken him to the level of judging Sporting Dogs for American Kennel Club and being featured on Good Morning America as an exhibitor at Westminster Kennel Club, among his many accomplishments in that field. He will also be remembered as an avid sports fan. Bob is survived by his wife of 12 years, Sandra (Bologna) Dunn, four children Tammy Zorn of Walllingford, CT, Daniel Dunn of Guilford, CT, Robert Dunn, Jr. of Boca Raton, FL, and Kerry Ann Dunn of Westboro, MA. He also leaves three step children Lindsey McDowell of Athens, GA, Allison and Ryan McDowell both of Brimfield. He is survived by his two brothers George, Jr. of Cliffton, NJ and James of Westchester, NY, along with six grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon, Rachel and Shaun Dunn, and Samantha and Elizabeth Zorn. A service to celebrate his life ( will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, (Rte 20). Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the MSPCA 171 Union St, Springfield, 01105. "
