Obituary of Ethel Sylvia Christman

" Ethel S. (Czajka) Christman, 83, of Flynt St., died April 24, 2004 at Wing Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. Born June 11, 1920 in Palmer, MA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anastasia (Dziergowski) Czajka. Ethel was proprietor for 18 years at Smart’n Final Hair Salon in Ware, MA. Previously she worked as a telephone operator and at Wright’s in Warren. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church and the Spiritualist Church in Springfield. Ethel was past Worthy Matron Revere Chapter of Eastern Star. Ethel was artistically talented and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, rug hooking and oil painting. She was also a member of the Bee Keepers Association. Mrs. Christman was predeceased by her husband George W., Jr. in 1989 and is survived by her four devoted children Ethel S. Christman of Millis, MA, Marcia L. Christman of Chicago, IL, Cynthia A. Piechota of Brimfield and Lisa M. Gouvin of Palmer. She also leaves a sister Alice Rodrique of Windsor Locks, CT a brother Frank Childs of Agawam, and three grandchildren Aaron Lopez, Ryan Gouvin and Lindsey Gouvin. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00am at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8:00 pm. Burial is at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Mrs. Christman’s memory to the American Heart Association, 1111 Elm St., W. Springfield, MA 01089 or Alzheimer’s Association 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140. "
