Obituary of Margaret Girouard

"Margaret (Connelley) Girouard, 83, of Everett Ave, died April 8, at Riverdale Gardens Nursing Center in W. Springfield. Born in W. Brookfield, May 5, 1920, she lived for many years in Springfield before moving to Belchertown in 1986. She worked for Buxton’s in Agawam for 16 years, before retiring in 1983. Mrs. Girouard was a communicant of St. Francis Church and a member of the Belchertown Senior Center. She loved to crochet and contributed her crochet work to many bazaars at the church and the Senior Center. She was also a member Senior Center’s walking club for 13 years. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Ernest Girouard, Sr. in 1971, and is survived by a son Ernest, Jr. and his wife Candice of Easthampton. She also leaves two close nieces Kathleen Desforges and Bonnie Lou Lamothe and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Bertha Kretchmar and two brothers John and Martin Connelley. A funeral service will be Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, (Rte 202) followed by a liturgy of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, W. Brookfield. Calling hours are Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Francis Church Building Fund, 10 Park St, or Belchertown Senior Center, 60 State St, Belchertown, 01007."
