Obituary of Frederick L. McCollom

" Frederick L. McCollom, Jr., 73, of the Bondsville section of Palmer passed away at Mercy Hospital on April 2, 2004 surrounded by love with his family by his side. Born in Palmer, August 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Frederick L. and Alice E. (Worby) McCollom. Freddie worked at the former Church Seat Manufacturing in Monson for 37 years and for seven years for the Palmer School System before his retirement in 1992. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, the former June R. Lynn, his three children, Sharon Richer and her husband Paul of Palmer, Sheila Gustafson and her husband James of Bondsville and Duane McCollom and his wife Toni of Bondsville. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren to whom he was loved as “Great Papa”. He also leaves a sister Carolyn Howe of Plymouth and was predeceased by a brother David McCollom, formerly of Belchertown. Funeral services will be Tuesday morning from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home at 9:30 followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Bartholomew’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 –9:00 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to The American heart Association of Western Mass. 1111 Elm St. West Springfield, MA 01089."
