Obituary of Theodocia Mercier

"Belchertown- Theodocia (Davis) Mercier, 91, of Stebbins St. died January 12 at home. Born in Sibly, Louisiana on June 7, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Elizabeth (O’Neal) Davis. She received her teaching degree from Louisiana Tech and later taught at Bastrop in Louisiana. Theodocia has lived in Belchertown since 1947, previously of Louisiana. She loved spending time with her family and her two cats. Mrs. Mercier enjoyed reading, and crocheting. She loved being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was a member of the Belchertown Congregational Church. Theodocia was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1998. She is survived by her loving daughters, MaryAnn Carter of Belchertown and her children Steven and fiancé Anne Davis and their children Bruce, Marion, and Skyeanne Carter, Michelle and David DiCienzo, Frank and his daughter Gabriella; her second daughter, Martha J. and her husband David Nadeau of Southbridge and her children David Paul and fiancée Christine Soloperto and their children Alec Paul and Nicholas Paul, Jeffrey Paul and Melissa Nadeau. Her third daughter Jacqueline E. and her husband David Lafleur of Belchertown and their children Jessica and husband Adam Courchesne and children Olivia and Nathaniel, and Jason, and her last daughter June Mercier with whom she lived. Mrs. Mercier is also survived by her sisters Marion Baker of Greenwell Springs, LA, Elizabeth Roach of Choudrant, LA, Leila Holmes of West Sacramento, CA, Dorothy Haddad of Monroe, LA and was predeceased by her brother William O’Neal Davis. Theodocia also leaves many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Calling hours will precede the service from 9-10:30 a.m. Burial will be at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice. "
