Dear Faye and Gabby, I was so saddened to hear of Cindy’s untimely death and your terrible loss. Cindy was a dedicated and compassionate advocate for children and families. I will always remember her keen intelligence and wonderful sense of humor. Her 34 years of service and friendship were a tremendous gift to the Division and to all the people who had the good fortune to come to know her and work with her. She will be missed by so many but will always have a special place in our hearts. With sincere condolences,

My thoughts go out to Faye, Gabby and all who knew and loved Cindy. Although I had known Cindy for about 20 years before I became DYFS Director, I got to know her well when she was part of the team in the Director's Office. Cindy had the expertise and experience to help solve problems and to support new initiatives; but her value was heightened by her optimism, sensivity, good nature and commitment to children. I don't think she ever came into my office without a smile and always was ready with words of encouragement. She helped us all to keep our focus on the things that really mattered.

"I am of the nature to grow old. There is no way to escape growing old. I am of the nature to have ill health. There is no way to escape having ill health. I am of the nature to die. There is no way to escape death. All that is dear to me and everyone I love is of the nature to change. There is no way to escape being separated from them. My actions are my only true belongings. I cannot escape the consequences of my actions. My actions are the ground on which I stand." --Shakyamuni Buddha Cindy Parks stood firmly on the ground of her actions. I am very proud of my sister!

We have all known each other and have been an important part of each other's lives for so long -- it really is hard to find words that have a chance of being adequate. It's as though a little piece of me had died -- I can only imagine what it must be like for you, Faye and Gabby. Grieve her well, and remember her presence with joy.

Dear Faye, Gabby, and Parks Family: My prayers and thoughts are with you. Cindy was a very special person. I will remember always her personal warmth and her unforgettable smile. Although not the "perfect" Maine rock, she gave me a few of the "near perfect" ones when she retired from DYFS. They have been with me ever since and I will continue to treasure them dearly....always.

I was so very sad to learn (belatedly) of Cindy's passing. I valued the too brief time I worked for her in DYFS - she was understanding, compassionate, and a strong advocate for kids. Her life was too short, but the memories are long.

I was very honored to have had the pleasure of working with Cindy. She was one of the most competent individuals that I ever met. More importantly, her caring and compassion for children and families was unsurpassed. Her ever-present smile gave everyone the inspiration to address the challenges of the day. I am hopeful that the wonderful times Faye and Gabby had with Cindy will provide some solace during this difficult period.

Cindy was a wonderful person. She was committed to helping those children and families who found themselves in need of DYFS services. She was Charlie's right hand person in helping him administrate a very diificult Division in the Department of Human Services that faced overwhelming challenges and at times little support. She also had a great sense of humor. May her memory be a blessing for all those children she helped and for all of us.

Faye, Gabby, and Susan, I am very glad that we shared time together on Saturday. I, like you, will try to focus on the wonderful times we had with Cindy. For me, most of those times were in Maine. I can picture Cindy sitting by our bonfires on Jasper Beach, searching for perfectly round, white rocks on any beach, sitting on the bow of the boat on our whale watching trips, eating lobster, and sitting around the kitchen table in Halls Mills. Those are the times that I will remember and cherish. Oh, and one more thing, how much she loved Gabby. Please know that you are all in my thoughts every day. Jackie
