Obituary of James E. Rioux

" James E. Rioux, 81, of N. Washington St., died November 10, 2003 in Farren Care Center in Turner Falls, MA. Born in Holden, ME, August 2, 1922, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Alice (Cormier) Rioux. He has lived in Belchertown for 49 years and previously lived in Springfield and Maine. James was a laborer at Monsanto for 30 years and retired in the early 1980's. Mr Rioux was a communicant of St. Francis Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He belonged to the Thursday morning Monsanto retiree breakfast club as well as the Belchertown Senior Center. James was predeceased by his wife Pauline M. (Berube) Rioux on Nov. 14, 2001. He is survived by a son Michael N. Rioux of Monson and 4 daughters Susan O'Connor andJulie Monette of Belchertown, Jacqueline Viens of Ft. Ogden, Fl and Yvette Flamand of Monson. He also leaves a nephew Al and his wife Cherrie Gauthier of Winchendon, MA 8 grandchildren Michael, Keith and Brian O'Connor, Reggie Legrant, Nicole and Shaun Harvey, Normand and Danny Rioux, also 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by a grandson Raymond Lagrante, III. A funeral service will be Thursday at 10:15am from the BEERS & STORY BELCHERTOWN FUNERAL HOME, followed by a mass at 11:00am in St. Francis Church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Ware, MA. Calling hours are Wed. from 4-8:00pm. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Francis Church Building Fund, 10 Park St., Belchertown, MA 01007."
