Obituary of Jacob L. Carpenter

"Belchertown, Jacob L. Carpenter, 78 died Sunday, December 7 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Erbacon, WV, September 27, 1930, he lived in Bullshoals, AK for a few years. He later moved to Brimfield, MA before settling in Belchertown in 2002. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, serving in Korea and Vietnam, retiring as Senior Master Chief Electrical Engineer. In his civilian life, he worked for the US Postal Service from 1973 – 1978. He was an avid collector of Roseville and coins, enjoyed fishing, he was a animal lover and his grandchildren had a special place in his heart. His wife of 51 years, Lillian (Haynes) died in 2002. He will be deeply missed by his fiancé Trudy Dunscombe with whom he lived, six children, Margie and her husband Mark of Palmer, Carla and her husband Dan of IL, Jake and his wife Diane of MS, Kim and her husband Don of CA, Monica and her husband Scott of CA, and Robin of WV, along with his 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He also leaves five siblings Vallie, Russell, Sandra, Melody and David. All services will be privately held and have been entrusted to Beers & Story Funeral Home. "
