Obituary of Esther R. Sarrette

" Esther R. (Lloyd) Sarrette, 74, of Carter St, died September 7 at her home after a long illness. Born in Walpole, January 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Henry L. and Esther (Salminem) Lloyd. Mrs. Sarrette was raised in Palmer and was a graduate of Palmer High School. She furthered her education by attending and completing various business and professional courses and seminars. She worked for Naval Intelligence in Washington, DC and later was the office manager at William E. Wrights in W. Warren for many years. She later owned and operated Esther’s Sewing Center in Palmer, where she made wedding dresses, gave sewing lessons and did alterations. As a professional seamstress, sewing and quilting came to be a great hobby for her. Esther was also an avid card player, participated in a bowling league, loved bingo and casinos, and was a voracious reader. Mrs. Sarrette served as President of the Colonist Club on Lake Thompson for many years, along with her service as President of the Wing Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She also held numerous other offices there. In addition, she was a long time manager of the Gift Wing at the hospital. Esther will be sadly missed by her husband of 50 years, Henry E. “Pete” Sarrette. She will also be deeply missed by her son David L. Sarrette and his wife Donna of Monson, along with her daughter Lissa A. Sarrette of Three Rivers, her three grandchildren Damian C. Sarrette and his wife, Brandy of Lake Thompson, Dene E. Sarrette and Hillary L. Sarrette both of Monson. She also leaves four sisters, Constance Stabach and Barbara Stockwell both of Palmer, Eleanor King of Agawam, and Linda Calisewski of Greenfield. She was predeceased by a sister Louise Roy of Thorndike Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Esther will miss her dearly;through all this magnificent woman has taught us, her memory will live on. A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, (Rte 20). Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 –6:30 p.m. prior to the service with a Video Tribute at 4:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Please make donations in her memory to either Wing Hospital Auxiliary, Wright St, Palmer, or Palmer Library Bookmobile, 1485 N.
