Obituary of Charlotte E. Jary

" Charlotte E. (Dexter) Jary, 82, of Newton Street died September 3 at Holyoke Hospital after a long illness. Born in Littleton, NH, September 24, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Burleigh C. and Eva (Moses) Dexter. Mrs. Jary was raised in the Franconia/North Woodstock area of New Hampshire and graduated from North Woodstock High School in 1938 and the Fanny Farmer School of Cooking in Boston in 1939. She moved to Holyoke, MA in 1943 and has resided in South Hadley since 1950. Charlotte was employed at Mount Holyoke College as an Assistant Chef from 1958 to 1982. She was an accomplished pianist and avid reader who enjoyed doing crosswords, playing cards and attending band concerts. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Joseph F. Jary, Jr. who died in 1996. She is survived by four loving children, Joseph F. ''Fred'' Jary, 3rd of Agawam, Paul D. and his wife Laura of Windsor, CT, Charlene Forgue and her husband Michael of Belchertown, and Elaine Gaunt and her husband Howard of South Hadley. She was affectionately known to her family and friends as ''Sugar''. ''Sugar'' also leaves ten devoted grandchildren, Paul Coddington of Westfield, Michelle Mastorakis of Canton, CT, Donna Grady, Theresa Forgue, Michael Forgue, Jr., and Elizabeth Saccamando all of Belchertown, Matthew Gaunt of Boston, Melissa McMenemy of Newport News, VA, John Jary of Windsor, CT and Janice Jary of Wilton Manors, FL. Additionally, Charlotte leaves behind eleven loving great grandchildren, a niece and several cousins. Calling hours are Friday, September 5 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home. A private family service will be held on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodstock, NH at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to David's House, P.O. Box 660, Lebanon, NH 03766. David's House provides a ''home away from home'' for families of children being treated at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. "
