Obituary of Kathaleen Summers

"Palmer- Kathaleen "Kathy" M. (Sheehan) Summers, 46, of S. Main St. died September 19, 2008 at Baystate Medical Center after a long, courageous battle. Born November 26, 1961 in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Michael Sheehan and Janet (Serra) Fuller and is a daughter-in-law to Helen and Edward LaBranche of FL and niece to Aunt Pat and Uncle Ron Serra of Wilbraham. Kathy loved crafting and enjoyed reading. She was a 1979 graduate of W.Springfield High School and graduate of AIC in 1983 with her degree as BSN. She was a longtime member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1489 and enjoyed many activities there. She earned the degrees of Academy of Friendship, College of Regents as well as Star Recorder. Kathy was a registered nurse and most recently employed at the American Red Cross of Worcester. She was a Western and Central MA Training and Compliance specialist and held many positions working for several nursing associations and Mercy Hospital. Kathy leaves behind her loving husband Dan and her sons, "the boys", Michael Brawn and his fiancée Amy Boyer, Kenny Brawn and his daughter Ava Marie Brawn and her mother Tamra, Daniel, Dustin and Devan Summers all of Palmer. She also will be missed by her siblings Colleen Coelho and her husband Jeff of Ludlow, Bob Sheehan and his wife Dawn of Wilbraham, Kevin Sheehan of W.Springifled, Debra Clarke and her husband Peter, Carol Roy and her husband Marcel of Lewiston, ME. Kathy also leaves many nieces and nephews, goddaughter Alyssa and Avery Coelho, extended family, in-laws, her constant companion, her dog Frankie and friends. A heartfelt thank you to our many dear friends, family and caregivers for your love and support over the years. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N.Main St. (Rte 20). Friends and family may gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. to process to St. Cecelia's Church in Wilbraham for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Palmer. Donations may be made in her memory to Mooseheart Endowment Fund, 155 S. International Dr., Mooseheart, Illinois 60539-1126. "
