Obituary of Robert E. Camerlin

"Robert E. Camerlin, 72, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 28 in Mary Lane Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, CT, April 27, 1936, he grew up in Chicopee. He also lived in Springfield and Agawam before settling in Belchertown in 1999. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Bob worked at the Wall Street Journal for 8 years before joining the Springfield Police Department in 1968, retiring as a Sergeant in 1992. For many years, Bob worked for local area funeral homes in various capcities. He will be missed by his many friends here at Beers and Story Funeral Home. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Carol A. (Christensen), along with his children and their families, Marc A. Camerlin and his wife Marjorie, their children Kathleen, Rebecca and Ian, of Westfield, Theresa A. Rothwell and her husband Michael, their children, Allison and Nathan, of Belchertown, and Eric E. Camerlin and his wife Lori, their children Bryan and Breanne of Chicopee. He also leaves six siblings; twin brother, Charles of Agawam, sisters Jeanne Roberge, Margaret Brodeur and Marie Surprenant all of Chicopee, brothers, Richard of Lakewood, Ohio, and Leonard of Burkeburnett, TX. Bob also leaves numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces. He will always be remembered as a man who loved to make people smile. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 2 at 9:15 a.m. from the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., (Rte. 202) followed by a mass in St. Francis Church at 10:00 a.m. Following cremation, a committal service will be held on Thursday at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
