Obituary of John Garth Zomermaand

"W.Springfield- John Garth Zomermaand, 42, of Craig Dr. passed away suddenly June 16, 2008 at his home. Born in Big Rapids, MI, August 9, 1965, he is the son of John Zomermaand, Jr. of Essex, CT and Kristin (Wilson) Slimmer of Fennville, MI. Garth has lived in W.Springfield for 3 years and previously lived in Palmer. He grew up in MI and graduated from Metropolitan State College in Denver, CO. He had many years in sales until joining H.B. Smith as a sales underwriter. Garth was a star cross-country runner and basketball player during his high school years. He went on to enjoy golf and Triathlons. Besides his parents, he will be greatly missed by his children, Ryan Garth Zomermaand, Hayley Kate Zomermaand who live in Palmer with their mother Annie Laurie (McCloskey) Zomermaand. Garth also leaves a sister Michelle E. Hines of Fennville, MI, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and in-laws. He was predeceased by his step-father Norman Slimmer. A visitation will be held Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by a memorial service Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be privately held at St. Thomas Cemetery in Palmer. At a later date, a memorial service will also take place in Saugatuck, MI.
